US Customs Restrictions on Food and AlcoholDue to changes in U.S. Customs Policy, we highly recommend that you do not ship food & beverages in household goods shipment. At the outset of 2004, the U.S Food & Drug Administration (FDA) began enforcing the Bio-Terrorism ACT of 2002. This new security act seeks to track & control the importation of food & beverage products. It requires electronic registration prior to importation into the United States. This means that all shipments that include food & beverages must have a descriptive inventory declaring the Manufacturer, Address of Manufacturer, Quantity, Description, Value, Country of Origin, & UPC code. Shippers importing any food or beverages included in a shipment, even if originating from the U.S., must pre-register with the FDA be electronically filing prior to customs clearance. To comply with these regulations, you must contact us in advance on all shipments that include food or beverages prior to shipping. Unfortunately, the process of registering these items is time consuming & can result in substantial additional fees, fines & delays. We strongly discourage our clients from importing any food or beverages with their household goods shipments. Our tariff rates will not apply to shipments including food and beverages. Contact us for more information regarding the importation of food & beverages. | ||||||||||
